New York Barista Training

New York is going through a wonderful coffee renaissance. Why is this a great opportunity for barista job seekers?  Certainly, this is a great time to start your barista training or sharpen your barista skills. With your exceptional coffee skills and knowledge you will be able to stand out among other barista job seekers. Like other states, if you are under the age of 18, a work permit may be required to work in the state of New York. Additionally, other federal, state, and municipal regulations may also need to be looked at depending on your age.

Basic Requirements for a Barista in the State of New York

Must be at least 16 years old

Must be able to legally work in the United States or have a valid work visa

Other Requirements That May be Helpful

  • State Issued ID or Driver’s License
  • Social Security Number or Equivalent
  • Good Communications Skills
  • Must be able to lift at least 25 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Be familiar with proper food handling and health procedures
